Cashew, Anacardium occidentale, is a tree that produces cashew apples and cashew nuts. The cashew apple is the fruit of cashew tree but they are not the real ones. Cashew apples are considered false fruits while the real fruits are the drupes grow below them, attached to it. Each drupe encloses a nut that is widely known as cashew nut.

The soft nut that is actually a seed is one of the dry fruits grown in India and is an answer to the taste of many recipes and alcohol preparation.  The shell of the cashew in which it is enclosed has to be removed as the shells contain toxic substances that may seriously react adversely on your health.

A 100 gm serving of cashew nuts provides for about 553 calories. Cashews are the only nuts that have 10% starch content of their weight. Cashews contain 54% monounsaturated fat, 16% saturated fat, 18% polyunsaturated fat. The nuts are rich in antioxidants and are a good source of trace minerals such as iron, zinc and copper.

Cashew nuts have some health benefits that may be of somewhat help to you if you have any of these problems. Note that cashews are fit for perfect people also so anyone may them.
